7:36Now PlayingYou know you're in a cult when the cult leader reveals the entire thing is actually made up, but you keep on culting anyway. That's what just happened with the QAnon conspiracy theory. In a recent HBO documentary "Q: Into the Storm", Ron Watkins – the man who happens to run Q's favorite social media site for posting 8chan – low-key admits to the filmmaker that he's been leading on a bunch of QAnon followers. He cracks a smile after saying that he posts conspiracy theories about politicians and the 2020 election, trying to look like an intelligence outfit. That smile is a near dead giveaway. And the filmmaker has been trying for three years to get Ron Watkins and his weird Dad to admit they've been posing as the mysterious Q for years.
Of course, none of this matters to QAnon supporters. They're too busy figuring out where Pelosi and Tom Hanks hide all the children!!! None of the regular Q watering holes are talking about this bombshell revelation, because once again, cults are based on the truth. They're based on the possibility of a lie one day becoming true by believing it hard enough.
Francesca is joined by comedian and labor organizer Nato Green to try and make sense of it all. Even though none of it makes any sense.
