Piers Morgan Melts Down Over Snow White

Francesca Fiorentini is joined by the host of TYT’s The Damage Report John Iadarola and comedian Emily Maya Mills, and in this segment, they are given the unfortunate task of not only thinking about Piers Morgan, but discussing him, as well. Piers Morgan is IRATE, y’all. He’s had it. First he spoke up in favor of racism (we think that’s what happened??) and had to quit his job over his principled stand, and now he’s had to take up yet another valiant cause: the kiss between the fictional character Snow White and her admirer the prince, as seen in the Disney cartoon film, “Snow White.” Yes, there are many versions of this particular fairy tale throughout history, and they are much, much darker and more problematic and worth a good think than Disney’s version, but Piers Morgan undoubtedly does not know nor care about that. He’s written an op-ed about this one, DAMNIT.

Just like Piers Morgan seems to be in favor of racism, he also seems to be in favor of ignoring issues surrounding consent. He’s an easy man to figure out! If something might make his life more difficult, or if it is in any way an issue that is glaringly obviously problematic in a modern-day society that strives for equality and seeks to confront difficult issues, he hates it! He thinks it’s wrong and stupid! Don’t change things! In a nutshell: STOP MAKING A FUSS! Everything has been fine for him, so what’s the problem????

Well, we all know what the problem is! We aren’t all rich white dudes, running around saying stupid, rude things and being rewarded for it. We don’t all get to be epitome of mediocrity and expect a lucrative television career as a reward. In fact, most of us work very hard for our entire lives and expect nary a reward aside from a crappy paycheck.

Francesca, John, and Emily discuss some ways that Disney could try to get around a dude kissing a sleeping lady. There are some good ideas in there, but the thing is, there’s no real answer here. It’s an old Disney story and the kiss is problematic and deserves a conversation. The only thing that we can be certain about is that Piers Morgan is the absolute worst and never, absolutely never, does anything with good intentions.
