Los Angeles City Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez joined Francesca to talk about the ways they are organizing to mount effective resistance against the fascists attacking our cities.
The violence being waged by ICE against our communities is sickening. It’s only going to get that much worse now that Trump’s Big Ugly Bill is cutting ICE a $170 billion check, up from about $8 billion. Top Democrats in California like Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom have wagged their fingers at ICE, but have offered little action to actually stop them. LA’s immigrant communities are rightly terrified, forced to hide away from state funded violence.
The only path forward is resistance, and it’s progressives like Hugo Soto-Martinez who are taking it upon themselves to lead in this moment.
