Homeland Security secretary skewered for ‘trying to be more quiet’ about controversial policy
"Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin is being criticized on social media after he claimed the agency’s immigration enforcement policy has not changed but DHS is “purposely trying to be a little more quiet” in enacting it.
Mullin made the remark Wednesday night during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s “Rob Schmitt Tonight.”
Schmitt asked the Homeland Security secretary if the agency is still focused on deporting all undocumented immigrants or if DHS has shifted to concentrating on undocumented immigrants with criminal histories.
“We’re staying focused on all illegals, without question,” Mullin said.
“Truth is, we’re purposely trying to be a little bit more quiet. I made this very clear when we were moving forward with my nomination that I wanted to get DHS out of the headlines so our ICE agents, our CBP agents and all the other law enforcement agencies we have underneath DHS could go do their job without being harassed by the media,” he said."
