as posted by the channel

President Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) welcomed Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin for the “Friends of Ireland” luncheon at the Capitol on Wednesday afternoon.

The visit comes as Trump faces uncertainty over his economic agenda following a dip in the stock markets and fears over a trade war sparked by his tariff threats. The European Commission, which includes Ireland, issued a retaliatory response to the president’s recent imposition of 25 percent tariffs on aluminum and steel imports.

The luncheon, which follows an earlier bilateral meeting, is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. EDT.

The two leaders are also expected to participate in a St. Patrick’s Day reception later Wednesday.
