31:17Now PlayingPresident Trump on Wednesday afternoon will hold a swear-in ceremony for Jeanine Pirro, who was tapped to serve as interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.
“Jeanine is incredibly well qualified for this position, and is considered one of the Top District Attorneys in the History of the State of New York,” the president wrote on Truth Social earlier this month. “She is in a class by herself. Congratulations Jeanine!”
It would require Senate confirmation for the former TV judge and Fox News host to hold the position permanently.
Pirro was named to the role by Trump after the White House pulled the nomination for Ed Martin, who faced an uphill battle for confirmation. Martin was instead reassigned to serve as a pardon attorney and director of the newly created Weaponization Working Group at the Justice Department.
The White House ceremony is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. EDT.
