GOP leaders are aiming to advance a stopgap spending bill this week that would avert a shutdown and fund the government through Nov. 20. Text of a potential continuing resolution (CR) has not been released, though Republicans said it will largely be “clean.”
Their comments also come as many in the conference have called for action against their Democratic counterparts following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has revived her push for a “national divorce” along party lines while Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) is seeking to strip Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) of her committee assignments over her response to Kirk’s shooting.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
