House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries will speak to reporters Tuesday morning as the government shutdown nears a week.

His comments come after President Trump called on Democrats to reopen the government and support the GOP's "clean" continuing resolution. In exchange, he said he would be willing to discuss a potential deal on extending Affordable Care Act subsidies, set to expire at the end of the year, at a later date.

Jeffries pushed back on the request on Monday, saying Democrats are not involved in such talks with the Trump administration.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EDT.
