Trump's comments come just weeks after the White House announced plans to launch TrumpRx.com, an online platform that seeks to direct Americans to lower-priced medicine. The move follows an executive order issued in May for drug companies to slash drug costs in the U.S. to compete with other nations.
During an event last month, the president announced a deal with Pfizer to cut down its prices.
The Trump administration also recently paused a threatened 100 percent tariff on drugmakers that did not build facilities in the U.S.
