12:02Now PlayingVice President Vance on Friday morning will host the first meeting of President Trump's new White House Task Force on Eliminating Fraud.
The panel, which Trump unveiled at his State of the Union address, will advise on and "coordinate government-wide efforts to combat widespread fraud, waste, and abuse in Federal benefit programs," according to the Trump administration's fact sheet.
The inaugural meeting comes as the administration and lawmakers investigate the state of Minnesota over alleged fraud in its social services programs and a day after the House held a rare public hearing looking into charges against Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McMormick (D-Fla.) for allegedly using millions of improperly paid federal disaster funds to finance her 2021 campaign.
Vance will be joined by Federal Trade Commission Chair Andrew Ferguson, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller and other senior administration officials.
