The event, hosted annually by the strategic and military study group The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), discusses security in the Asia-Pacific region.
As Washington correspondent Kellie Meyer reported from Singapore, Hegseth said that the U.S. is continuing to support its allies in the region, but called on them to increase their own commitments. Meyer reports that Hegseth took a more restrained tone on China than at the previous year's meeting.
Meyer also asked Hegseth about a phone call he'd had with President Trump, as the president considers signing an agreement with Iran for a ceasefire extension.
