If you’re interested in true crime, unsolved disappearances, or even the paranormal, there’s a good chance that you’re familiar with a concept known as Missing 411. Coined by author and former police officer David Paulides, the term refers to a victim profile describing some twelve hundred and counting missing persons cases with strange attributes. In the most mysterious of these, people disappear and are never seen again. In others, they’re either found deceased or otherwise unable to account for what happened to them. What ties them all together is a lack of information regarding how and why they vanished, as well as a number of “unique characteristics” regarding both the identity of the victim and the circumstances of their disappearance.
