On the morning of March 16th 1946, thirteen year old Jimmy Weaver was leading a weekend hike with his two brothers and two young neighbors. The group of five began their journey from a transit stop near the Weaver home at 400 Herkimer Street in Hamilton, Ontario, riding one of the city’s buses until they were let off at Mountain Drive Park some four miles to the east. From there, they followed the scenic Mountain Brow Boulevard for nearly three miles, and then separated into two groups. Jimmy and the neighbor kids, eleven year old David Reed and his eight year old Faith, went to the western side of the highway to play in the field there; meanwhile, Jimmy’s two younger brothers, eleven year old Robert and nine year old Fred, disappeared over the ridge to the east. Soon after, Jimmy heard his brothers calling for him, and he quickly made his way over to see what the fuss was about. Welcome back to The Lore Lodge...
