27:25Now Playing45,000 people flooded the streets of Dearborn, Michigan for the Arbaeen march, a religious procession in a city of only 100,000 people, 55% Arab or Middle Eastern descent. There were hundreds of flags. Lebanese flags, Palestinian flags, Yemeni flags, Egyptian flags. Not one American flag.
What is documented on camera in this city: Al-Quds Day rallies with 'death to America' chants live-streamed to Facebook. A featured speaker calling for the overthrow of the entire American system. A vigil for Hassan Nasrallah, the former leader of Hezbollah who killed 241 US Marines in the Beirut barracks bombing, where the crowd chanted 'destroy Tel Aviv.' And the mayor of Dearborn attending an event where a speaker declared Nasrallah their greatest leader, first among all others.
Jake is not calling for banning these events. First Amendment protections apply to everyone. The question he is asking is simpler than that: what does assimilation look like, and is it happening? Because what is on camera inDearborn, publicly streamed and publicly celebrated, suggests the answer is no.
