Trump slashes NFS funding, citing misuse for identity politics over critical research

President Donald Trump just made big cuts to "woke" programs he said hijacked taxpayer dollars to fund radical agendas, including the National Science Foundation (NSF), which received billions of dollars.

An analysis found that in one year, hundreds of millions of dollars went to divisive identity politics instead of focusing research on programs like a cure for breast cancer or childhood leukemia.

Rachel O’Brien, who is the deputy public policy editor for Openthebooks.com, said the NFS criticized Trump for slashing its funding by 55%, calling it a war on science.

"But we found that these NSF grant proposals are evaluated using DEI requirements, which distract from basic research and development efforts,” O’Brien told the National News Desks Jan Jeffcoat during a one-on-one interview Friday.
