Origins of debunked Trump-Russia narrative, newly declassified docs shed light

One excerpt from a July 2016 email allegedly written by Benardo reads: “HRC approved Julia’s idea about Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections. That should distract people from her own missing emails.”

In one of the newly released memos, the pair reportedly discussed “damage control” with then-DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, further fueling speculation that the now-debunked collusion narrative may have been strategically amplified during the height of the campaign.

Grassley said the documents offer “evidence of the great depth that the deep state will go to cover up weaponization that was going on in the FBI and the executive branch of government under the Obama administration.”
