Minnesota lawmakers speak out after deadly mass shooting that killed 2 children

Investigators are still digging for information on what caused a shooter to open fire during Mass at a Minneapolis Catholic school on Wednesday, killing two children and injuring 18 others.

Authorities said the gunman was 23-year-old Robin Westman, who identified as transgender.

FBI Director Kash Patel said the agency is investigating the shooting as an act of domestic terrorism and hate crime targeting Catholics.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara said Westman was armed with a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol, noting that all the guns were purchased legally.

"Four search warrants are currently being executed at the church and three other locations around the metro. Additional firearms have been recovered as part of these searches," police said in a release.
