Despite being the first country to commit net zero targets into law, the British government’s own climate change commission says that the UK will soon be in “a position where we can no longer say to other countries, stop using fossil fuels, stop going into oil, stop going into gas” because we are doing “so little” ourselves.
With record-high temperatures, right-wing “anti-scientific” lobbying, and delayed transitions to green energy, Andrew Marr calls on the next government to apply the same “cold, hard realism” we assume on the economy to climate change in order for the UK to maintain its world-leading status.
