The Chancellor has announced a number of spending cuts in response to a “£22bn black hole” in the public finances - which, she claims, Jeremy Hunt and Rishi Sunak “hid” from the country.
Jeremy Hunt denies this, claiming Reeves’ statement was political, paving the way for future tax cuts.
The OBR and IFS have both, largely, backed Rachel Reeves, who has acknowledged that the government will have to raise taxes in the next budget on October 30.
