as posted by the channelIn the 1,369 days between Wednesday, January 1st, 2020 and today's date (the day this video is being streamed & recorded: Sunday, October 1st, 2023) the citizens of Muncie, Indiana have been witness to many strange and seemingly half-baked plans and ideas that Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour has either cooked up himself or he has been sucked in to by others.
These plans, while they may have been beneficial for someone involved... were just never, ever really beneficial for the City of Muncie. And even when a few of the plans might have, on the surface, appeared as if they might be ok... something always turned out bad or wrong! Either because it was something where the City was on the hook for large sums of money with little to no return... or the partners involved, were questionable, at best... and outright conmen, at worst!
For one reason or another, Mayor Ridenour has been incapable of seeing how or why all of the situations he has found himself in... were NO GOOD for the City & citizens of Muncie.
And now, with only 3 months until the end of Mayor Ridenour's first term... and only one month until the election (on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023) to determine if he will be coming back for a 2nd term or if his challenger will become Mayor... either way it goes, it is a fact, that the City Council, in a lot of ways, will be different come January 1st, 2024.
With all of that in mind... Mayor Ridenour is trying to pull off ONE MORE harebrained idea... which would possibly saddle a new administration with a plan from this administration... and even if he is re-elected... it would be forcing a "new" Council to have to live with plans set now!
It's not that the idea in this situation is bad... it just doesn't make sense to jam it through now... when it could easily be tabled for 60 days... and then if/when Mayor Ridenour is re-elected and the new Council is known... the idea can be discussed then!
