0:44Now PlayingThis short is a 44 second clip from a Muncie, Indiana City Council Meeting that was called by the Council's Finance Committee and held on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023. It was the 2nd Finance Committee Meeting that had been held.
The Council calls up ALL the Department Heads in the City Administration to go over their proposed budget for the 2024 year! For the last 3 years the Mayor, Dan Ridenour, has sat through ALL of the Finance Committee Meetings... and when the point came for the Council to discuss the budget for the line items specifically relating to the Mayor's Office... the Mayor, just like all other Department Heads would go before the Council to explain why the numbers given was, in fact, needed!
However, nearly all year, this year... the Mayor has NOT attended the Council meetings! This meeting was no different! Matter of fact, when it came time for the Council to discuss the Mayor's Office line items... City Controller Craig Wright walked to the podium and presented the Mayor's Office "budget" for 2024.
It was VERY STRANGE... to see this!
After this had happened... a Muncie citizens, Elisabeth Edgell... who is also a community activist and a journalist... she stood and asked the Council why the Mayor was not at this meeting &/or... why he has stopped attending ALL Council meeting this year!
The Council President said he could not answer that question but that maybe City Controller Wright, could provide some insight... City Controller walked to the podium and what he said should make all Muncie citizens wonder if the Mayor is CAMPAIGNING rather than doing the job he was elected to do!
