#210 | The Coming Transparency Fight, Libertarians, Trump, & #GummyGate | The Political Spotlight

It's been a good few days off, but it's time to get back to work! Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey has been burning the candle at both ends... but he has some great topics to discuss for this #210th episode!

First up, just as Bilbrey started to go through the episode topics... Host Brandon Rudd popped in for a VERY SPECIAL "VIDEO PREMIERE"... that's right! It's time for #SprolesWatch2024... as Brando's offering is a VERY timely, & funny, video called:

After the video Bilbrey and Brando shoot the shit for a bit and Brando then heads off to bed!

Getting into the show, Bilbrey starts off with a very scary situation out of New Jersey! The State Legislature there is pushing a bill (S2930) that will allow their local governments to SUE people &/or organizations that file "TOO MANY" Public Record, Requests. How many are too many? Who keeps count? And what else does this bill do? Bilbrey discusses it all as he walks viewers through a story from Irvington Township New Jersey, where that local government filed a suit against an 82 year old, retired teacher, because they claim she was "harassing them" by filing "too many" Record Requests! How many did they say she filed? 75, in three years! THAT IS ONLY 2 a month... that is NOTHING! The bill has passed both Houses and is waiting on the Governor! This is something to keep our eyes on! But NJ isn't alone!

Bilbrey then give his thoughts on the 2024 Libertarian National Convention that ran from May 24 - 27, 2024 in Washington D.C. What can be said about the LPNC? LOL... the (BIG L) Libertarians got down, like only they know how to! But still, after all this time... it's like there are people that think something DIFFERENT will happen!

BUT wait, this year, something different DID happen. For the first time, ever, a Republican Candidate, seeking the Republican Nomination for President of the United States attended the LPNC and addressed the crowd!

That's right... Donald J. Trump spoke to the crowd that would CHEER & BOO in equal measure!

Trump was Trump and well, the Libertarians were, Libertarians!

The only thing that could top that was if one of their main front runners for nomination, Dr. Michael Rectenwald... would seem a bit more "out of sorts" than normal, after Trump's speech. And of course, being the LPNC, it was speculated that maybe some kind of substance played a role... thus #GummyGate started!

Rectenwald, on Sunday, however, confirmed to a reporter from the Washington Post that someone gave him a marijuana edible, which he ate "pre-presser" and it hit a bit harder than he thought it would! He then went on to say, "This was not some sort of a major political scandal, okay. I wasn't found in bed with Stormy Daniels. I’m at a Libertarian Party convention. Somebody offered me something!”

Again, Libertarians acting like Libertarians! What's interesting tho... is that ordeal wasn't enough to push him to victory! The Party's nominee is: Chase Oliver! Meh...

Oh and it was Memorial Day! So, I hope you were happy, or sad, or whatever you wanted to be! But, above all else... I hope you REMEMBERED what the day is ALL about!
