The Council's discussion and vote on Resolution 2025—04 are fascinating because they pit the entirely Republican Council against the Republican Governor and Lieutenant Governor of the State of Indiana, some Republicans from the Indiana General Assembly, and, of course, a whole lot of "Conservative, Republican" Hoosiers!
For the record, Resolution 2025—04 Opposes Indiana Senate Bill 1... which is a plan for "Property Tax Reform." Property Tax Reform was a significant issue for MANY voters during the 2024 election! It has been an issue for years and one of the main issues to try and tackle for newly elected Indiana Governor Mike Braun (R).

That said, the Delaware County Council voted 6* — 0 to pass the Resolution to Oppose SB 1. (*The Delaware County Council is a seven-member Council; however, Councilor Jessica Piper was absent due to illness, so only six Councilors were present for this meeting!)
This vote pits the Delaware County Republican Councilors against the Republican Governor, Lieutenant Governor, administration, some Republicans within the Indiana General Assembly, and, again, many, many citizens of Indiana. SB 1 has pitted Republicans from all over against other Republicans, and it is fascinating to watch all the political gameplay!
