Kamala Harris has offiically become net favorable for the first time in THREE YEARS in the Realclearpolitics polling average for favorability ratings. She was as far as negative 17 points, a huge surge bringing her above water at this point, clawing towards 50%.
Favorability is a big statistic that's important for presidential candidates, it's especially efficacious in predicting incumbencies, but not as strong in non-incumbency elections. However, because Trump's favorables are often so low, although higher than in 2016, if Harris can reach the magic number of 50% favorability and Trump goes down to 42%, she should be guaranteed to win. Despite Hillary having the favorable edge on Trump, she didn't have 50% or anywhere close to it, so this would be the magic combination that should mean Kamala will emerge victorious.
The debate looked horrible for Trump, but I wouldn't say great for Harris. How does this impact their favorability ratings? If Trump's takes a bigger tumble than Harris, that would be huge. Will it boost Harris? Only time will tell...
