1:12Now PlayingUnlike secular nonprofits, religious organizations don’t file an annual 990, so there’s no legal document holding them accountable. That leaves a big gap in transparency. So how do we bring transparency to religious nonprofits? Through you, our community of donors and congregants. Once you create your personal profile on Broken Shepherds, you can search fore your religious organization, and contribute by editing certain information about your religious organization, like revenues, leadership, salaries, addresses, and more. This data starts as unverified, much like Wikipedia entries. Then, the religious organizations themselves can claim their profiles and verify or update the information. Together, we’re building a trusted, community-driven resource that brings accountability and clarity to the nonprofit religious sector. It’s transparency powered by you.
