Even Lindsey Graham Admits Georgia Voting Restrictions Are A Little Too Extreme

Fox News host Chris Wallace was able to get Republican Senator Lindsey Graham to admit that the recently-passed voting restrictions in Georgia were a little too extreme. Specifically, Graham admitted that the provisions banning the delivering of food and water to people in line made absolutely no sense at all. But the law as a whole is absolutely unnecessary and cruel, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

On Fox news Sunday, host Chris Wallace was able to get Republican Senator Lindsey Graham to actually admit that part of Georgia's recently passed voter suppression. Law was a little bit ridiculous. And of course that one provision that Lindsey Graham admitted was a step too far. He said he didn't understand it. That's the provision saying it's illegal now to give people food or drinks or other refreshments when they're waiting in line to vote. Lindsey Graham admitted on Fox news that yes, that I don't understand. And I agree with you. Oh Chris, that that's a little too far. And then after he made that statement, after he made that concession, that that one part of that voting bill was extreme before and after that he spent the rest of the segment, ranting and raving about HR one, the voting rights expansion bill from the house of representatives.

The Senate is now working on their version of it. Republicans are threatening to filibuster it, but it would be one of the largest expansion of voting rights. At least in most of our lifetimes and Lindsey Graham doesn't support that he thinks it's evil. He thinks it's also able to not give people a bottle of water when they're waiting in line, but that's just a concession we're going to have to make, because here's the thing though. Lindsay, when you say you don't understand why you can't give people bottles of water or RefreshMints in line, we all understand. It's just that made it very transparent, right? That you don't want people waiting in line to vote. You would rather have them sit out there. November's in Georgia, by the way, folks are not exactly kind. You know, some years it's nice and mild other years, depending on where you are, the state it's fricking hot and you're standing in the sun, you have no shade.

Bottle of water would be nice. And we're out there for two or three hours, which does happen quite frequently in Georgia elections. You start to think maybe this isn't worth it. Maybe I'll just leave. Maybe this is too extreme for me. Maybe I'm old and I can't be out here this long. I can't sit out here this long without water. I've got to go. This is hurting me. This is ailing me. I can't physically do this. And they leave the line. Lindsey Graham, you know exactly that, that is why they're doing this. So man, up, admit it, tell Fox news that you know why they did it. Fox news knows why they did it. Chris Wallace knows why they did it, but none of them are willing to admit it because exposing that exposes the entire piece of legislation as the farcical crap that it is because that's what we're dealing with here.

This is a piece of designed to keep people of color and Democrats from voting and in many of the areas where that are going to be most effective, the effected that is actually going to be a Venn diagram. That's just a complete circle. That's why they did it. That's why they put all these other provisions in there as well. They did it to be cruel and to keep people from voting because that's the Republican Holy grail. It's great. When you can be cruel to people, it's great when you can keep them from voting and by God, if you can somehow combine the two that hooey that's the Republican jackpot. And that is exactly what this Georgia legislation does. And Lindsay Graham knows it. Chris Wallace knows it.
