3:39Now PlayingWhile traffic at virtually every news site and outlet has gone down this year, no groups have felt the sting quite as much as the outlets that made a name for themselves propping up Donald Trump. Sites like Newsmax and The Federalist have seen their traffic fall by more than 40% since February, and that's never good for an online media outlet. The truth is that people are just tired of Donald Trump, and these outlets don't have a whole lot to say outside of that, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

There's no secret that traffic for pretty much all media outlets, both corporate media and online media, has gone down ever since Donald Trump left office. Donald Trump was a massive boom in ratings for quite literally everyone, from the Trump loving websites and outlets, to the Trump hating websites and outlets, everybody did better under Donald Trump and people were more interested in the news. So again, it's no secret that since Donald Trump left off it, office, everybody has seen a massive decline in their traffic. But according to a recent report by Axios, few outlets have seen as much of a drop in traffic as the Trump loving websites out there. Most of them that kind of popped up or at least gained notoriety during the Trump years as outlets that were pretty much only in existence to tell us how great Donald Trump is and how horrible the Democrats are. And this actually includes, as the report says, websites like Newsmax and the Federalist, which have seen their traffic drop by 44% over the past six months, compared to the previous six month period.
To put it another way, people don't care anymore. These right-wing outlets that gained notoriety because they were out there pumping up Donald Trump every day. Yeah. It turns out that audience really doesn't care that much about the news if it's not about Donald Trump. And that puts a lot of these websites in a very, you know, sticky situation, mainly because they got nothing else to talk about. You know, it's not like you can suddenly pivot and be like, we're a climate change outlet. We're, uh, we're news of the day. No, you existed solely for the purpose of telling people how great Donald Trump is. Now you've got nothing to say. And even as you try to find new things to say, you're realizing that the people who came to you in the first place are sitting there saying, yeah, I don't care about this. Let me know when you've got some Trump news to report and I'll come running back to you. And we're going to see more of this.
And what's really funny too, by the way, is that this is exactly what I had predicted would happen. We saw this massive influx of all of these right-wing outlets over the last few years and a lot of them really did skyrocket to the top, along with all these other little right-wing personalities out there. And just as I had been predicting for years, the market simply isn't big enough for all of them to survive. And that's what we're seeing now. Don't get me wrong, we have it on the left too. We have more voices on the left now than we ever have in my almost 18 years of doing this. But again, I've been doing this for 18 years. I have seen folks come and go from the left and the right. We have seen networks grow to enormous proportions, then disappear almost overnight. Few of them actually have staying power and no matter how popular they were during the Trump administration, they're all feeling the squeeze now and a lot of these sites, a lot of these outlets, they're not going to be able to survive on that for more than another year or so.
