Trump Meets With Kevin McCarthy To Sabotage January 6th Committee

On Thursday, House minority leader Kevin McCarthy visited Donald Trump at his golf resort in Bedminster, where the two undoubtedly talked about the January 6th Select Committee. McCarthy is in charge of selecting Republicans for the committee, and Trump will surely want some of his sycophants to serve in order to thwart any real work from getting done. It remains to be seen how McCarthy is going to act going forward, but it is safe to assume that Donald Trump has at least one hand on the steering wheel at this point. Republican House minority leader Kevin McCarthy traveled to New Jersey yesterday to Bedminster Donald Trump's golf resort, where he met with Donald Trump. And one of the things the two discussed was the select committee on January 6th. This is only the second time since Trump has left office, that Kevin McCarthy has traveled to one of his properties to meet with him and Donald Trump the day before the meeting took place was, was happy about it. He released a statement, you know, Kevin McCarthy's coming here. It's going to be awesome. We have much to discuss, he said, and I guarantee you the number one topic of conversation, possibly the only topic of conversation, was the select committee on January 6th. See Kevin McCarthy as the minority leader, as the leader of the Republicans, gets to put people on that select committee. And now we can basically surmise through his meeting with Donald Trump, that he is not going to act impartial with who he puts on that committee.

It's not just going to be drawing names from a hat. No. It's not going to be picking mild, moderate Republicans to go and just serve on the committee, do what you're supposed to, and then call it a day. I have no doubt at this point that during this meeting, Kevin McCarthy abdicated his responsibility and instead likely told Trump, you tell me who to pick and I'm going to pick them. This means that we will not be able to trust the Republicans that get put on that committee. Not that we could have trusted them anyway. And again, this is all speculation. I have no evidence on my theories here, but they are just that, they are my theories about what took place at that meeting. And again, it's kind of easy to come to those conclusions. Donald Trump doesn't want a select committee. The Republicans don't want a select committee and Donald Trump and people like Kevin McCarthy do in fact have the most to lose if this committee comes up with damning information or basically just serves to remind the people relentlessly of what took place that day, considering the Republicans right now are going through this January 6th history rewrite where they're trying to paint it as a walk in the park.

Saying it wasn't all that bad. The public understands that it was bad. But the longer we go without being reminded, the more Republicans push this false narrative, the more likely it is members of the public are going to forget. And they're going to be implanted basically with these false memories of what actually took place that day. And that's what Donald Trump wants to ensure. That's why he met with Kevin McCarthy because he wants to make sure that whoever ends up on that select committee, they are loyal Trumpists. They're not going to come up with any information that's going to be damaging to Trump or the Republican party. And they're going to do their best to obstruct any real work from this committee. I have no doubt that that is what is taking place here. And once McCarthy decides who he's going to put on that committee we'll basically find out if I'm right, or if I'm wrong.
