Republican Representatives Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene were forced to hold their weekend rally on a sidewalk in California after three separate venues cancelled them. The venues didn't want to be at the center of any controversy by hosting the two lawmakers, and now Gaetz is threatening to sue them for the cancellations. But even if they win, the damage has already been done, as the two were widely mocked for their pathetic sidewalk rally. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

This past weekend, Republican representatives, Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene, were first to hold, forced to hold, their America First rally on a California sidewalk. See they had originally booked themselves at this hotel slash convention center. Then they canceled and then they found another venue. But then that venue canceled. Then they found a third venue. And as you can tell where this is going, that venue also canceled them. So instead of being able to do their rally indoors in the nice air conditioning, where they could have a huge crowd of people there, they were forced to do it on the sidewalk because nobody wanted to host them. But Matt Gaetz, wasn't going to let that get him down. And he appeared out there microphone in hand, looking like Patrick Bateman from American Psycho. And here's just a short little snippet of how crazy Gaetz and his rhetoric became during the rally. Take a look.
China virus started in the Wu Han Institute of virology. That is the truth. And there's another truth they don't want to hear, Donald Trump won the last election and he's going to win the next one.
You know, not to get technical here, Matt, but actually if Donald Trump did in fact win the 2020 election than he actually wouldn't be able to run again in 2024. Just, you know, point of order there, since you don't seem to understand how, how laws in the United States work. But of course, this is what happens. And Matt Gaetz, by the way, I know he tried to play it off there, but he's actually furious. He is actually threatening to sue the venues that canceled him and Marjorie Taylor Greene, wants to sue them for forcing him out on the sidewalk and believe it or not folks, he actually may have a fairly decent case against them. You know, I hate to take his side on this, but if they signed a contract, I know the contract would have provisions under which the hotel or venue could cancel them. And if they canceled them for reasons outside of what was in the contract, then yeah, absolutely, he would be able to sue and he would likely win.
Well, what's the point at that point, right? A hollow victory. You already got your money back. So you really can't ask for more damages. And even if you do, it's going to be such a paltry amount that any litigation you file is going to cost you more than what you're going to recover. Not to mention the fact that the damage is already done, because everybody in the country got to see your little sparsely attended sidewalk rally. You've already been ridiculed. You've already been mocked. And I know you're fighting right now to protect your ego because you just so desperately want to be famous. Then there was a point later in the day where the two were actually out on the beach, a prankster runs up. I'm sure everybody has seen the clip, if not, it's all over Twitter. But anyway, a guy comes up and says, hey, Marjorie Taylor Greene, everybody thinks you're crazy, but I don't think you're crazy.
Matt Gaetz, everybody thinks you're a pedophile. I don't think you're a pedophile. He was joking, of course the, the prankster. It was pretty funny. But nevertheless, that's what these two have been reduced to. You know, Matt Gaetz loves to think that he is like this Republican celebrity.
