Republican Florida governor Ron DeSantis traveled to the South of the state this week on Tuesday, Pinellas county and he gave a address about rising sea levels in the state and what we're trying to do about it. And when asked by a reporter about climate change, DeSantis dismissed it. In a discussion about climate change and how it affects Florida and the sea level rise that the state is already seeing, he got when asked about climate change, which is what is, what is causing this. And then he went totally off the rails. Let me read you what he said. What I've found is people when they start talking about things like global warming they typically use that as a pretext to do a bunch of left wing things that, that they would, would, would wanna do anyway. We, we're not doing any left wing stuff. Be very careful of people trying to smuggle in their ideology. They say they support our coastline or they say they support, you know, some, you know, difference our water, environment, and maybe they do.

But they're also trying to do a lot of other things. Boy, that one off the rails pretty quickly, right? Like, oh, you say you support our coastlines and you wanna protect them. But here you are talking about climate change. Pssh. But maybe you do. I don't, I don't know. I read a lot of quotes doing this from politicians, from, from media figures, from all kinds of individuals and I gotta say that at least in recent memory, this is one of the dumbest things I've read. And again, I wasn't stuttering and stammering, those were the actual words from the quote. That's what happened to him. Like towards the end there totally fell apart because even he didn't know what he was saying. I honestly believe that even he doesn't believe what he's saying. He's just like, well, you know, I mean, if, uh, the coastline and, and environment and things and ideologies and all other left wing things. It, it's not even a sentence, let alone a thought. Like, what exactly were you trying to say there?

You're talking to a state that is experiencing the effects of climate change today and actually has been for many, many years. Sea level rise has become a huge crisis in Miami and we gotta do something to address it. And obviously the best way to address it is to get us reduced emissions. That's it. That's the way. That is the number one way that we do this and obviously can't just be here in the state of Florida, across the country, across the, across the globe. We all have to do this. We all have to pitch in. We have to come together as human beings and do this, even though the pandemic has proven that we are incapable of coming together as human beings to collectively solve a problem. So I have very little faith that we can get it done. But there's time. There's technology. There's things we could be doing. But instead we have idiot politicians like Ron DeSantis who get so flustered at the very thought of climate change that they can't even form a cohesive sentence.
