4:06Now PlayingThe Republican National Committee attempted to smear President Joe Biden over the weekend by pointing out his 31 trips to Delaware since taking office. Delaware is only a 90-minute drive from DC, but even beyond that, Trump had already gone golfing 91 times by the same point in his presidency. The Republicans were completely silent as Trump racked up nearly 12 times more protected trips than any previous administration, at a cost to taxpayers of nearly $400 million. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

The day before new year's Eve last week, the Republican national committee took to Twitter to try to attack president Joe Biden for making 31 trips to his home in Delaware, since being sworn in as president on January 20th, 2021. Here's what they said. Joe Biden has now been to Delaware 31 times since he took office, Americans are struggling to make ends meat and he is on vacation. Oh, hot right? Got him. Could you imagine the audacity of a sitting president in the middle of a crisis going on vacation multiple times to his home that is literally just an hour and a half drive from, from the White House. You know, it's not like he, he was traveling down to Florida every three days to play golf. By the end of Donald Trump's first year in office, he had gone golfing 91 times, almost every single one of those trips to a golf course that he owned.
Biden on the other hand has taken 31 trips, which sure it's a lot, I guess, to his home in Delaware, that again is an hour and a half away by car. It, it, it's not like he's going and staying at a resort and having to get secret service their own hotel rooms and going off carts and all of that. He's going to his house. Nobody's profiting off that at all. Unlike Donald Trump's trips where the secret service would of course have to rent golf carts. They had to buy food from his resorts. They had to rent the rooms. They didn't give them anything for free. And Trump got to pocket the profits of it. RNC said nothing about that. Fox news said nothing about that. But Fox news relentlessly attacked Barack Obama when he would go on vacation. So what I did went ahead and pulled the stats from Trump's four years in office and here's what we have.
Trump's trips to Mar-a-Lago alone averaged a cost to taxpayers of $3.4 million per trip, per trip, $3.4 million we paid per trip. Grand total over four years spent on travel was $340 million. 307, that is the total number of days that Donald Trump played golf while president of the United States, almost one out of every four days, almost an entire year of playing golf as president of the United States, a full 10 months out of four years playing golf. And he and his family had 12 times more travel than previous presidents, 12 times more. For every time Obama had to travel with secret service protection for his family, Trump did it 12 times. That's what those numbers mean. And again, the RNC didn't say anything about that. Conservative media didn't say anything about that.
They sure all attacked Obama for it. Didn't say anything when Bush did it and he did go on vacation more than Obama too, but it's just how the cycle goes. It is infuriating and of course it is gas lighting trying to make us seem like, oh, Biden's not doing anything. What a lazy shift about, if that's even a phrase, I don't know. But anyway, he's going to his house over the holidays, over Christmas and y'all are acting like it's some big national scandal. Meanwhile, the, the last president Donald Trump was traveling to his own resorts and getting to pocket the profits from our tax dollars spent on secret service to protect him there. If you don't see the difference in that, then you are not smart enough to be commenting on American politics.
