Poll Suggests Forgiving Student Loan Debt Could Swing Midterms To Democrats

According to new polling from Data For Progress, forgiving student loan debts could actually help prevent a Republican landslide victory in the midterms, and there's a small chance it could allow Democrats to retain control of the House. This would happen by energizing younger voters, which the data shows could lead to a 45% increase in the turnout of that left-leaning generation. According to the new data from the group data for progress, voters in swing states, such as Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin are almost 50% more likely to say they are more likely to vote in the 2022 midterms. If president Biden sticks to his campaign promise and straight up forgives student loan debt, you know, $10,000 in debt, you've got 45% say yes, that makes us more likely to get out and vote. When you bumped up to $50,000, 46%. So there's only a one point difference there. Say, yes, I'd be more likely to vote and of course they'd be more likely to vote for Democrats. So we're talking about three swing states here, right? Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, where thousands of people were polled and overwhelmingly, they're telling us that, yeah, if he did this, I'm gonna go vote for Democrats. If he doesn't do it, I'm probably not going to vote at all. So even with, by the way, the extension that the White House is gonna do here, it's not enough. Although I will say that the poll does point out that even if we just get the extension, this was prior to it, one third of them said it would make them more likely to vote. So, I mean, I guess that's something, right? But this is so stupid to me because it's such a winning issue. It's something Biden can do without Congress. It makes good economic sense.

It makes good humanitarian sense. It makes good political sense, and he's just not doing it. This is the dumbest thing I think I've ever seen in American politics. Like there's literally nothing holding him back. He doesn't have to get congressional approval. He doesn't have to jump through any hoops. He can sign an executive order today, forgiving, not a, not just 10 or 50, but 100% of federally held student loans, today he could do it by himself and he's just not. Like this new data is literally telling us, not only might this prevent a Republican landslide, but there's a decent chance that if you did it, Democrats may even retain control of the House of Representatives. It, it, it's a winning issue. And of course, forgiving all the debt would add between 86 and $110 billion to the economy each year. That's money that these people would save by not having to make the payments. Their lives would be better. Everybody wins. My God, everybody wins and he's still not doing it. And for the life of me, I still can't figure out why. And it's gotta be more than just, oh, well, they're just corrupt. They don't wanna. No, no, no. There's gotta be something more here because this is literally a win, win, win situation that he can do by himself and he's choosing to not do it, that confuses the hell outta me and I haven't seen a good answer as to why that's happening.
