Pelosi Wades Into Florida Governor's Race And No One Is Happy

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has decided to weigh in on Florida's gubernatorial Democratic primary by endorsing former Republican governor and current Democratic Representative Charlie Crist. Even though he is currently serving in office, and served in the past, Crist has had far more unsuccessful runs for office than he has had successes, and Pelosi throwing her weight behind him is not going to go well in a state where she is very unpopular. Nancy Pelosi decided to go ahead and wade on into the Florida gubernatorial races and yesterday she officially endorsed representative Charlie Crist for the Democratic ticket to take on Ron DeSantis. And to be fair to Nancy Pelosi for just a moment, well, I'm gonna be fair to her throughout, but just real quick. It does make sense, obviously, that she would pick Charlie Crist, because he is a representative serving in the House of Representatives. That's her colleague. So yes, she would endorse him instead of the other two Democrats running in the primary. However, the smart decision for Pelosi would've been to have done nothing. That is what Nancy Pelosi should have done with this hotly contested race against arguably one of the worst governors in the state of Florida, by the way, a state that hates Nancy Pelosi, nothing good is going to come of this endorsement.

And I know Pelosi doesn't pay attention to attack ads down here in the South because she lives over in California. But as somebody who lives here, let me give you a little perspective folks, perspective that you can only get from people who live down here and see it. When Republicans run attack ads here in the state of Florida, do you know who is the big villain in all of the attack ads, even though she doesn't live here? It's Nancy Pelosi. We see it in the Alabama attack ads. We see it from Florida. We see it from Georgia. They're all running against Nancy Pelosi and they have spent years creating this deep seated hatred of Pelosi in the American South. So why in the hell would she throw her name behind a Democratic candidate who by the way, 10 years ago was a Republican and has lost several elections since then as an independent, then as a Democrat, Charlie Crist, even though yeah, he holds office now.

Yeah, he was the Republican governor of Florida, the guy is a serial campaign loser, and he is going to lose against Ron DeSantis and part of the reason that's gonna happen is because Pelosi has now attached her name to this politician. That was dumb as hell. Charlie Crist, of course, is the most conservative Democrat running in the race. The person I would like to see just out of the available options is of course, Nikki Fried. You know, she is the first Democrat to be elected to state office here in God knows how many decades, she beat the odds. She has shown that she can do it. And Pelosi comes out and says, hey, remember this guy that used to be a Republican. How about him? No, that's not gonna work. It's not gonna happen. Pelosi, you may have just doomed the state of Florida because you don't understand how much the conservatives in this state hate your guts.
