YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe House Select Committee investigating January 6th has made a new email public (via a lawsuit) that reveals an earlier plan to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The email suggested having Mike Pence recuse himself from overseeing the hearing, and replacing him with the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, which at the time was Republican Chuck Grassley. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains how this scam would have worked.

As part of a legal filing this week, the January 6th committee has revealed what they believe to be the first plot to use the Senate to overturn the results of the 2020 election. And of course, before we get into the plot itself, just know that this was filed with the court because the January 6th committee is still trying to get some of John Eastman's materials. So they had to file this one, this email, because it did pertain to Eastman showing the judge that, hey, listen, we're pretty clear there's crimes being committed. Here's more evidence, which of course is why this one was made public. So here's how this plan worked. You had a New York lawyer by the name of Kenneth Chesebro who sends an email. Let me just, I just, I'll just read this. Chesebro outlined that under his legal theory, then vice president Mike Pince could recuse himself from certifying the election and Chuck Grassley, who was the Senate pro Tempore at the time, Chuck Grassley or another senior Republican could step in to preside over the Senate and essentially set aside Biden's electoral college win, giving Trump time to further question his loss in public discourse and in court. By January 2nd, 2021, because that email was sent on December 13th, by January 2nd, 2021 Chesebro said in a follow up email that the proposal had largely become irrelevant.
So, all right guys, I got a plan. Mike Pence is gonna recuse himself, right? And then we get the president pro Tempore of the Senate, Chuck Grassley, or maybe just any other Republican. I don't even care. They get to preside over it. They stall it, right. They just basically say, we're not gonna do this today. They adjourn. And then Donald Trump can go out and keep lying to the public and, and challenge it in court, of course, too. But mostly the lying to the public thing. How about that? Then a couple weeks later he's like, yeah, sorry guys, this ain't gonna happen. And like I said, the committee believes this was like the first plan to actually use the certification to overturn the results of the election. It's amazing what we don't know about what took place between the 2020 election and January 6th. And of course that is why this committee's work is so important. And this is again, just one of the many bombshells that the committee had already basically told us, hey, get ready. There's gonna be lots of bombshells before the prime time hearings start next week. So what else do we not know? I mean, think about this for a moment. Everything that is coming out of this committee, not only is it unprecedented in American history and we need to take a moment to just think about that. This entire administration, lawyers from around the country and even members of Congress wanted to overturn the results of a presidential election.
I don't think that we think about that enough. Like just that simple fact that, oh my God, they really tried to do this. Like let that sink in for a moment. They really tried to do this. It, it's, it's remarkable and I don't think we're giving that the gravity that it deserves. So anyway. We don't know most of the story. We get bits and pieces here and there either because, you know, it's been leaked by the press, or to the press, excuse me. Or because we find out because it's been in court filings. Most of the things that that committee has, most of what they know has not been leaked, it has not been filed in court.
