Republicans Are CHOOSING To Embrace Crazy

Republicans in leadership positions in the Party have been given a grand opportunity to dump the craziest members of their Party and move forward with "normal" candidates and officials. They chose NOT to do so. By embracing the nuts, they have allowed the Party to move even further to the Right, all in the name of winning elections - a move that could end up backfiring. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

You know, I typically do not agree with conservative Washington post columnist, Jennifer Rubin, but every now and then I think really like once or twice a year, maybe at most, she puts out a piece that I completely agree with, or at least mostly agree with. And recently she put out one, titled Republicans have a choice. They can dump the kooks. I think kooks is a, you rather polite way of saying the crazies, the nut jobs, the idiots, but she makes some good points. One of the points being let's be blunt, a great many Republican candidates are bonkers or they're pretending to be.

She also points out that it's not just about Trump. Like we just have some genuinely nutty people in the Republican party right now. Here's what she says. And the insane lies coming from Republicans are not only about Trump, the active purveyors of the big lie, the vaccine deniers, the replacement theory, provocateurs and the crowd that spun conspiracy theories about Ukraine. When Trump was caught extorting, its president are all either delusional or willing to pretend so they're either hopelessly gullible or infinitely cynical. And the big point is, as she points out, Republicans have a choice, except I don't think have a choice is the correct word, you know, or phrase to use. They had a choice they've made their choice, right? They, they know where they're going. They know what the future of the party is. And the future of the party is not MI Romney and Liz Chaney and Adam Kininger the future of the Republican party. Unfortunately for the United States is Marjorie Taylor green. It's Matt gates. It's Jim Jordan.

That is the direction that the Republican party is headed right now. Even people like Dan Crenshaw, who two years ago seem like some of the most extreme members of Congress. I mean, Dan Crenshaw, I, I had him on the same level as Marjorie Taylor green and Matt gates. That dude looks sane compared to these nut jobs. And that's why Republicans have now been going after him because he's not crazy enough for them. But yeah, Republicans did have a choice. They could have held Trump responsible for Ukraine and kind of put an end to all of that. They didn't, they could have held him responsible in the second impeachment for the capital riot. They didn't. And then they could have gone as hard against some of these other nuts as they went against Madison Callthorne. If they actually wanted Marjorie Taylor green outta the party, they could have taken her out. And I mean, electorally don't get me wrong on that same thing with Lauren Boer, if they actually thought she was a problem, they'd get rid of her

Or gates or Jim Jordan of all people. Yeah. All of these individuals that I've just named the Republican party easily could have taken care of, but they didn't. And I say easily taken care of because we've seen them do it. We just saw them do it with Madison coor. He him off. They got rid of him. They made the choice to do that. And they're choosing to not do it with these other people. So the Republican party has made a choice. They've chosen to be the party of crazy that's who they are. And that's apparently who they want to be forever.
