4:17Now PlayingDuring a speech to a conservative group this past Friday, Ron DeSantis went on a rant against what he's calling "woke math." DeSantis claimed that teachers no longer teach that two plus two equals four, and instead they teach that two plus two equals "how do you feel about that?" This isn't actually a thing that has happened anywhere in the country, but DeSantis knows how to work a crowd the same way that Donald Trump did. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Ron DeSantis. The Republican governor of the state of Florida gave a speech this past Friday to the, uh, extreme conservative group moms for Liberty, where he went on a tear about what he calls woke math and how the state of Florida under his control, of course, weeded out. This woke math that apparently was affecting all of our grade school children here is what DeSantis had to say. I'm just thinking to myself like two plus two equals four. It's not two plus two equals. Well, how do you feel about that? Is that an injustice? No, we gotta teach the kids to get the right answer. he then boasted that Florida sent, woke math textbooks back to publishers. They took the woke out and sent us back normal math books. DeSantis said they took the woke out of the math books, which didn't exist in the first place, by the way, folks.
And I'm saying that as a parent of young children who are attending Florida's public schools, I'm saying that as the husband of an educator here in Florida's public schools, I have seen the curriculum. I have seen elementary school, middle school, high school. I am a product of Florida's public school educations as well. There's no wokeness in any of the math textbooks. And of course, that is what the experts also had to say. That's what DeSantis own government, by the way, had to say about these math books that they sent back to as DeSantis says, take the woke out. So what happened here is that DeSantis totally made this up. Like just fabricated. This whole issue, created it out of thin air, made it an important issue here at the state of Florida, then fixed the issue that didn't even exist. And now he gets credit from these morons who support him, thinking that he solved a problem because they don't understand that he fabricated the problem, then pretended to solve it.
My God, I swear to God, there is no easier job in this country than being a Republican politician. You just make up, whatever you can imagine. And then you pretend to fix it like this paper right here, folks. I'm a Republican politician. This paper is about to fly across this room and give every one of you. Paper cuts across your neck, but I'm saving you right now. Look what I've done. I have saved you. I have saved you from this evil paper. You owe your life to me now and the crowd cheers wildly. Oh my God. He saved us. You heard what? He said, it was common for us. And he fixed it. That's what Republican politicians do. And I think right now, nobody does that better
Than Ron DeSantis. That is of course what makes this man so incredibly dangerous? You know, I've always said that Donald Trump is clearly the greatest conman that the United States has seen probably in its history. But I think DeSantis is actually catching up to him because unlike Donald Trump DeSantis is not an idiot. DeSantis is not a narcissist blinded by his own ego. Sure. There's a level of narcissism there. I think there is with any politician, but DeSantis is calculating. He is logical and far more dangerous than Donald Trump because he knows exactly what he's doing. Creating these fake issues, telling you that you need to be afraid of something, but then don't be afraid because I have solved this problem for you. I have saved your life. I have saved your children from the wokeness of math.
