Alabama AG Wants To Prosecute Anyone That Helps People Leave State For Abortions

The Republican attorney general of Alabama, Steve Marshall, announced that he may start prosecuting anyone that helps a person leave the state to seek an abortion. This came in response to a woman that had to go to New York to receive an abortion after being told that her fetus developed without a skull and would NOT live. These people are monsters, and that's putting nicely, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

So recently America was captivated by the, uh, very difficult story of a woman from Louisiana, where they have an abortion ban who had to travel to New York in order to get an abortion. Because she found out when she was 10 weeks along with her pregnancy, that her fetus had developed without a skull. And without a skull, it it's not gonna live like your baby is going to die. So you need to terminate this pregnancy. Well, her state wouldn't let her do it. So she had to travel to New York, uh, people from around the country donated money so that she would be able to do this. Um, and she had to make that very difficult and painful decision. She, she wanted a baby, but the baby was developing without a skull and was going to die. So the state of Alabama, after obviously seeing everybody around the country, pour money into this and pour money into other campaigns for women, to be able to leave the state, to go get abortions.

The state of Alabama said, now hold up folks while it may not be illegal to leave our state, even though this didn't happen in Alabama, uh, it may not be illegal to leave our state under our abortion ban to go get an abortion. We may actually start prosecuting people who pay or who donate to causes or who run organizations and charities to give money to women, to leave states, to have abortions. So here is what Alabama's asked backwards. Republican attorney general, Steve Marshall said recently during a radio interview, there's no doubt. This is a criminal law and general principles would apply provisions related to accessory. Liability provisions related to conspiracy would have applicability involving this particular act passed by the legislature. If someone was promoting themselves out as a funder of abortions out of state, that is potentially criminal actionable for us. If there are groups promoting this as part of their services, we will be taking a look at that. There is nothing about the law that restricts any individual from driving across state lines and seeking an abortion in another place. However, I would say that if an individual held themselves out as an entity or a group that is using funds that they're able to raise to facilitate those visits, then that's something that we're going to look at closely.

In other words, if you donate, if you're in this state of Alabama and you donate to a group, a person or an organization that is raising money to allow women to travel from one state to another, to get an abortion, Alabama wants to lock you up. If you run one of those organizations in the state of Alabama, they're coming for you. And I mean that as a warning,

They're coming for you, Steve Marshall, the attorney general of Alabama wants to prosecute you. He wants to put you in jail for helping these women folks. I knew things would be bad right after the overturning of Roe versus Wade. We all knew they'd be bad. I don't think anybody could have predicted how bad they would become, how quickly they would turn so badly, right? Like that's what is truly shocking to me. We knew they'd get bad. We didn't know they'd be this bad. And we didn't know it would happen this quickly. Maybe some of you out there will say, I knew this all along. Great, good for you. Wonderful. But this is terrifying and it's getting worse. We're now at the point where if you donate a $5, so a woman can drive to a different state to terminate her pregnancy, that isn't even viable. You could be headed to prison for several years.
