Most Republicans REJECT MAGA Label

A new survey has revealed that most Republicans in America reject the MAGA label, but there isn't a whole lot of daylight between those who embrace the term and those who want nothing to do with it. However, there are very clear patterns that are emerging among those who prefer the MAGA label, and they are mostly older white men who didn't go to college. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses these new findings.

According to a new poll out this week, a majority of Republicans reject the MAGA label when describing themselves as conservatives or Republicans. They say, Yes, I am on the right, but no, I am not maga. 58% of Republicans poll reject that term versus 42% who embrace it. So it's a 16 point different, uh, difference, which is not huge, by the way. Okay. Those numbers could shrink easily and we could be dealing with a 50 50 Republican party, right? Half mag a half not. But the fact that right now a majority of Republicans do not like that mag label, it tells us maybe, maybe the entire Republican party is not too far gone to pull away from those extremes that we are seeing from the MAGA movement. But this poll told us something even more remarkable about who these people are that do embrace the MAGA label.

And I could tell you, and I will tell you in just a moment, the demographics, right, Who identifies as maga, But I, I, I want you to take a second because I guarantee you, in your head, you could think if you're looking at the entire Republican party, what group of people is probably more likely to identify as maga? Get that picture in your head. Got it. Okay. I'm gonna read you who the mag people are the ones who love that label. They are disproportionately male, 55 and older, white, lacking a college degree and make more than $50,000 a year. um, 40% say they attend religious services at least once a week. 33%, which is a plurality are rural and 46% another plurality live in the South. So we're talking about old, white, southern, non-college educated, good old boys down here who embrace that MAGA label. That is who MAGA is. Elderly, white, non-college educated Southerners. Is that the picture you had in your head? Because it should have been right. This is not shocking at all, but it does tell us a lot because what we're dealing with is this block of southern states that really is kind of carrying the entire MAGA mantle. And of course we have other rural states, you know, in the Midwest where that mantle is being carried as well. But when you break out of these areas and you actually go to where people live,

It's not there.

But we see it so frequently because Donald Trump does understand this, and this is why he goes to these places to hold his rallies. You know, I see it every day hanging off the back of pickup trucks, the, the big let's go brand flags that people have flying in front of their homes right now. I see it every day. And so I'm led to believe, obviously, that this is, I guess, the way most Republicans are. But this poll is telling us that, no, it's not. See, I'm stuck in a mag of bubble down here in Florida, one of the reddest parts of Florida.

It's not always like that. And that's good to know for me, you know, that's good for us down here because we've got a lot of progressives in this area, believe it or not. Not enough to be able to make a difference yet, but we're working on it. But it's good to know that the freaks we see around here with their confederate flags, with their, Let's go Brandon, with their Trump 20, 24 stickers. That's not what a majority of the Republican party actually is at this moment. That could change, but for right now, it's not who they want to be.
