How can we stop George DeSantis Wallace from turning us into 1955 Alabama. And of course this is referring to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis turning back the clock by several decades here in the state of Florida. And the answer here of course seems obvious and and silly to almost say it out loud, but it is, we have to get him out of office. We have to move beyond these Republicans down here in the state of Florida who have, by the way, had a stranglehold on this state for more than 25 years. That's easier said than done now, isn't it? You've got the Democratic Party in the state of Florida right now in total disarray. There's actually been a lot of stories about that in the last few weeks. And the reason for that is cuz they don't know what the hell they're doing, right, I mean, Florida's supposed to be a swing state according to, you know, all the smart people out there doing analysis, but it's not, it's a deep red state.
And the reason is because the Democrats have done such a poor job of running their own party in this state. You know, whether it's Debbie Wasserman Schultz, whether it's putting up tired and horrible candidates like Charlie Krist, the former Republican governor of the state of Florida, and that's your pick for the Democrat in this last year's election. Yes, he's gonna get rejected cuz he was already rejected by both Republicans and Independents. What'd you think the Democrats were gonna do? So until we fix the Democratic Party here in the state of Florida, I don't know that we can get rid of DeSantis to of course undo the horrible policies that he has put in place. And when I say the horrible policies he's put in place, obviously I'm talking about his attacks on the schools, his attacks on the L G B T Q community, his attacks on, you know, books and his complete lack of action on economic issues here in Florida on housing issues.
You know, letting over 80,000 Floridians die of Covid cuz he wanted to prove a point that we're the free state of Florida, people are dead. How free are you when you're six feet under a pile of dirt? Ron, I don't think that's very free at all. You've taken away those people's freedom because you took away their lives by not protecting them during a pandemic. But his policies are gonna stay in place until and unless the Democratic party in the state of Florida can get their act together, can come up with good candidates, can come up with good messaging.
So until then, it is what it is. And that's the worst, most terrifying thought of all. We are stuck with this Republicans outnumbered Democrats in the state of Florida. As I said, this is no longer a swing state, hasn't been for a while and it's getting worse. Republicans are doing better, Democrats are doing worse. So there may be a big shift here. Florida may be lost for the next 20, 25 years, may longer at current trajectory. It sure, it certainly seems like the Democrats are in for constant shellacking here in the state of Florida, but they've gotta figure out what they're doing wrong, which is, you know, bad candidates, bad messaging, not spending money where they should. Otherwise it's gonna keep devolving here to where 1955, Alabama is gonna look like a futuristic world because we down here in Florida will be stuck in 1845.
