The truth is that this is now the law in Florida - and it is a law he both asked for and signed as Governor. The only one making DeSantis look bad is DeSantis, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is furious over the fact that teachers are clearing out the bookshelves in their classrooms. And of course, those photographs and videos have gone viral all over the internet making him look bad. And so Ron DeSantis is now out there trying to claim that the teachers are doing this just to make him look bad. But in reality, teachers across the state of Florida are of course emptying their classroom bookshelves because they don't wanna get hit with felony charges for violating d uh, DeSantis Stop Woke Act. So this week, DeSantis held a little press conference after news broke that Roberto Clemente's autobiography was in fact banned from schools, and DeSantis claims that it's all overblown. He said, quote, they're manufacturing that to try to create a narrative. You know, the, the teachers in the state of Florida that you've picked on for five years now they're just doing it to make you look bad, right, Ron?

In fact, he even had his, uh, edu Commissioner of Education or Manny Diaz come out after he did. And Diaz said, Florida does not ban books. And this particular book on baseball legend, Roberto Clemente, is currently on school bookshelves across the state, except it's not Manny so far, Roberto Clemente's, uh, biography, autobiography, honestly, I don't even know what it is, um, has not been approved. Therefore, if a teacher is caught in the state of Florida with a book that has not been approved by a certified librarian or media specialist, that teacher could in fact face felony charges under the piece of legislation that your guy Ron DeSantis signed. So stop effing lying to the public. You piece of. That's how I feel about this. Of course, as everybody knows, my wife is an educator here in the state of Florida, so this is a little bit personal for me, so forgive me for getting a little heated in this particular discussion.

But Florida does not ban books. That's the biggest load of crap I've ever heard, and I've been covering American politics for almost 19 straight years. Now, Florida does in fact ban books, as I mentioned. If it has not been approved by a certified librarian or media specialist who be in the classroom, it's not allowed. And you will, under the Stop Woke Act that bears Rhon DeSantis signature, you will face felony charges for that. And if a librarian or media specialist happens to approve a book that the state still thinks isn't good, that media specialist and or librarian will also face felony charges along with the teacher. Those videos we've seen going around, which I've talked about before here on Ring of Fire, of empty bookshelves in classrooms, teachers having to cover them up so the kids can't see the spines of the books. Those are real.

I've seen it in person. It's not for show. It's not because they wanna make DeSantis look bad, it's because they are complying with his draconian fascist laws that he has put in place himself here in the state of Florida. And the Florida Commissioner of Education, Manny Diaz, along with DeSantis, are out there lying their butts off to try to convince you that this isn't actually happening, when in fact it is. What they have done to education here in the state of Florida is nothing short of abysmal and it's only going to get worse. That's the, that's the terrifying reality here. We got four more years of this fascist dictator.
