Donald Trump is trying to one-up Nikki Haley's call for mental competency tests for candidates over the age of 75 by saying that ALL presidential candidates should have to take the exam. This actually isn't a bad idea, and Trump was able to turn it against Haley by jumping on it and throwing it back at her. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this issue.

Donald Trump is trying to outsmart Nikki Haley, which apparently is not that difficult to do with her lackluster campaign. And Trump came out yesterday on Truth Social and one upped Nikki Haley's request for all presidential candidates over the age of 75 to have to take a mental competency exam. Donald Trump came out and said this, anybody running for the office of president of the United States should agree to take a full and complete mental competency test simultaneously with the announcement that he or she is running. And likewise, but to a somewhat lesser extent, agree to a test which would prove that you are physically capable of doing the job. Being an outstanding president requires great mental acuity and physical stamina. If you don't have these qualities or traits, it is likely you won't succeed Maga. So Nikki Haley, as I said last week, said, everybody over the age of 75 should have to take a mental competency test.
Of course, she's tried to knock at both Trump and Biden who have been criticized over their mental slipups, I guess we'll call them. And so she thought, haha, I've got a good shot at the old guys. Well, now you got the old guy firing back and saying, Hey, I'm game, but I think everybody should have to take this test. And then Trump went a step too far with the, we should have to do a physical challenge too. Make us do an obstacle course. I would love, I would love to watch Donald Trump have to do any kind of like physical stress test to see if his body was in good enough shape to be president of the United States. I think that is something the public deserves to see. So I'm gonna support your idea, Donald, just because it's so ridiculous. I mean, look, we've seen President Biden, sure he has slipups, he has, you know, moments where you can't quite make out what he's trying to say, but in terms of physical competency, I mean, the dude's still out there riding bikes.
He can still run. I think the only time Trump runs is when they say that the buffet at Mar-a-Lago was open. So I think Biden's got you on that one. But as for the mental competency test, Donald Trump wins this round over Nikki Haley because she turned it into an ageist attack rather than a, let's make sure the person who's president of the United States is mentally there enough to do the job. And I 100% agree that they should all take mental competency tests. I, I'm, I'm back in Trump's idea here, even for the physical challenge, just because I wanna see him have to do it. I think Nikki Haley could quite literally run circles around Donald Trump. I think any of the other names being floated for president could run circles around Donald Trump, whether it's Democrats or Republicans.
So I, I think you may wanna back off of that one, Donald. That's definitely not a challenge. You're going to win, but the mental competency, hell yeah. And unfortunately I do think Donald Trump would pass that test because yeah, he's done some crazy things, but it, but it's like a controlled crazy, okay, he knows that it's the most extreme and crazy things to, uh, thing to do. So he is not doing it because he's not all there. He's doing it because that's his personality. So it's not that he's not mentally competent, it's that the competency that he has, it's terrifying.
