3:58Now PlayingRepublicans in the Florida state house are ready for Ron DeSantis to announce his presidential run so that he'll stop causing them headaches and they might actually be able to get work done. DeSantis recently took a world tour, which is another strong indicator that he is going to run, but back home in Florida, reports are swirling that Republicans in the state are growing tired of his antics and his refusal to do anything about their pet projects. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

According to a democratic state senator in the state of Florida, obviously he works in Tallahassee, the state capitol. He's around these Republicans that apparently fallen over Ron DeSantis all day. But this Democratic lawmaker says that his fellow Republicans are anxious, eager, ready for Ron DeSantis to officially jump into the 2024 presidential race. But he says it's not out of excitement for DeSantis as a candidate. It's not because they love him so much. They want him to be president. No, according to democratic lawmaker, Jason Pitt. So the Republicans in Florida want Ron DeSantis to announce his presidential bid so that he'll leave the state and they can actually get some things done. They are sick and tired of DeSantis. This guy says they are, uh, quote, uh, he is causing difficulties for them. Now, the reason, like, look, okay, you could probably dismiss that as like, well, he's a Democrat.
He doesn't know what the Republicans are thinking. He's trying to make them look bad. Sure, that's a possibility except for the fact that this story has also been corroborated by multiple outlets over the last couple weeks. Not necessarily Republicans wanting DeSantis out of their hair, but the fact that Republicans are fed up with Ron DeSantis because they can't get any of their pet projects finished because Ron DeSantis is too worried about things like drag shows in Disney World. Ron DeSantis is hyper focused on his revenge agenda and his culture war agenda. That actual real things that have to get done here in the state of Florida can't get done. And what happens when a state lawmakers trying to get something done and fails, they have to hang their head low, walk back to their district and be like, well, I'm sorry folks. I, we couldn't get it done.
We were too busy fighting the, and at that point, the crowd's already turned against you and it doesn't matter what else you say. And these Republicans, they're not complete idiots. Some of them, they know that. So they know that Ron DeSantis is hurting their chances to continue on in their career because he is not allowing them to do anything to help their constituents. And after all, isn't that the big thing you gotta do? The whole, are you better off now than you were two years ago, four years ago, whatever it was, you're gonna go back to your district and they're gonna tell you No, they're not. That's not gonna bode well for your reelection campaign. Is it Republicans? And that's what they know. And that's why they want Ron gone. Cuz when Ron is gone, he's not dictating what they have to do in the State House. They can pass their legislation, they'll send it to him wherever he is. I mean, he just signed a bill in Israel so we can FedEx these papers to him if we need to. We can fax 'em, I guess, I don't know, download 'em as a pdf, whatever
It is, he can sign them from far away without being down here interfering in state business. And that is what these Republican wants, uh, Republicans want. And I gotta tell you, they don't deserve it. Now, this is your guy. You did this, you enabled him, you bolstered him. You just passed legislation saying he doesn't have to resign as governor to run for president. So every step of the way, you have made this guy what he is. And if it's causing you discomfort now, then you absolutely 100% without a doubt, deserve every second of it.
