Things aren't looking great for Donald Trump, as special prosecutor Jack Smith has now reportedly reached immunity deals with two former Trump officials in exchange for their cooperation in the fake elector investigation. This is a massive development that could help Smith wrap things up and secure more indictments against the former President. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

According to new reports, special prosecutor Jack Smith has notched several immunity deals, uh, one with a former high ranking official in the 2020 Trump campaign, and several with people who were going to serve as fake electors in Donald Trump's attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Now, this is a big deal because here's what's been happening According to these reports, Jack Smith has been bringing in lots of potential witnesses recently to talk to the grand jury about Trump's attempts to overturn the election. The problem he he's running into is that a lot of these people obviously are pleading the Fifth Amendment because they're worried they're going to incriminate themselves, and then they themselves, of course, would be prosecuted. So Jack Smith finally, I guess, had enough of this and he said, all right, listen, we'll give you immunity. We will make sure you do not get prosecuted no matter what you say, no matter what you tell us.
Don't you worry about that. You just gotta come in, not plead the fifth and tell us what happened. And the interesting part on top of that is that when two of these fake electors who have been given immunity deals showed up recently to testify in front of the grand jury, Jack Smith personally showed up there as well to make sure that they did not plead the fifth because again, they had been given these immunity deals. Uh, the other individual that has been given an immunity deal is Michael Roman. He is Trump's former director of election day operations. Um, he's actually, according to the reports currently in talks to get his immunity deal. So we don't have the details of that yet, but this is what happens. Roman, of course, was one of the, I don't know that you could call him an architect of the scheme to use the fake electors, but he was definitely involved in it.
So first you crack the fake electors themselves, right? You get them to agree to talk, tell them, you know, the prosecutors who they were talking to who gave them instructions. Then you go after those people and you continuously work your way up that ladder, up the chain of command until you get that biggest fish. And the big fish, of course, is Donald Trump himself. But based on what we're seeing right now from these in investigations from the cooperations, uh, Jack Smith has kind of put this thing on the fast track, uh, trying to get this done so that he can come with indictments against any individuals that he plans to in invite indict, which could include Donald Trump himself. Uh, Lindsey Graham made it clear recently that he's pretty sure Trump's gonna get indicted for this as well, and Graham admitted that when he said that Republicans won't take any more indictments. Jack Smith better not do it, but looks like he's gonna do it. You don't cut a bunch of immunity
Deals with a lot of different people if you don't think they're gonna give you information to get the guy at the top. And that's the other important thing to remember. It's not just that these people get immunity, it's not that they're flipping, it's that he wouldn't have made the deals if these people didn't have vital information that he needed.
