Poll Shows Voters Disagree With Republican Candidates On EVERYTHING

There wasn't a ton of talk about actual policy during the first Republican debate, and the few "policy" issues that the Republicans on stage pitched are wildly out of touch with the desires of the voters. According to a poll released after the debate, a majority of voters - including large majorities of independents - disagree with Republicans on everything from destroying the Department of Education to pardoning Trump, and everything in between. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains why this isn't a surprise at all.

According to the results of a new poll that actually came out the Friday following the Republican presidential debate last week. But a new poll has found that a majority of Americans on every issue disagree with the Republican stance. I, I've never seen a poll like this where you have on every issue Republicans brought up during the debate. A majority of the public's like, no, no, no. We don't support that at all. We don't like this. Even on issues like green energy, like moving towards renewable energy and off of fossil fuels, even a majority of Republicans according to this poll, were in favor of investing more in renewables to move us off of fossil fuels. Even though the, at least one candidate on that stage where s Swami said that climate change was a hoax. Let me read you some of the results of this poll is from data for progress, 67% of all likely voters, including 85% of Democrats, 67% of independents, 49% of Republicans oppose shutting down the US Department of Education.

A plan backed by Bergham, DeSantis, Pence and Ramas Swami, uh, Christie and Scott actually took aim at the Republic, uh, not Republican, excuse me. The Teacher's Union said, we gotta get rid of teachers' unions. And 58% of respondents, including 54% of independents, said that they oppose breaking up teachers' unions, majorities of voters oppose requiring citizens to pass a poll test before voting, which is something that was suggested on the stage. They opposed sending us military forces into Mexico to fight drug cartels. Another thing proposed, and a majority opposed pardoning Donald Trump for any criminal charges against him. Also, something that was proposed, 52% of voters oppose pardoning Donald Trump, uh, plurality of voters, 48%, uh, said they do not support a 15 week abortion ban. Uh, 77% of all voters support expanding the production of clean energy in the United States. And 93, uh, 93% support lowering prescription drug prices, 88% support, holding big tech accountable to the law, 84% support, increasing access to affordable housing, 76% support expanding Medicaid and Medicare to more people, and 75% support tax hikes for corporations and the rich. So across the board, on every single issue, voters say, we do not like the Republican plan. So why in God's name do any of these Republican candidates have any of the support from anyone in this country? Like that's what I mean. We even had two of the three Republican administrations of this 21st century is because the electoral college in 23 years, one Republican has won the popular vote, and that was George W. Bush in 2004. But of course, if we hadn't had the electoral college, he wouldn't have been running in 2004. So who knows what would've happened? But a majority of people in this country reject conservatism. They reject the Republican Party's platform. This poll is, is definitive proof of that. But Republicans have power because they've gerrymandered their states to Helen back to where they can't lose in certain areas. And the electoral college has kept them afloat in presidential races. You take those two things away from them and the Republican party begins to immediately, uh, uh, fade off into obscurity their out of touch with average, everyday normal people.
