Republican representative George Santos. Actually, let me rephrase that. Indicted Republican representative George Santos, uh, is having a bit of a crisis right now. He doesn't know if he is or is not trying to work out a plea deal with the prosecutors that are coming after him for fraud, money laundering, stealing public funds, and lying to Congress. Because according to a court filing this week, both sides, the prosecution and the defense have asked a judge to delay a hearing that is supposed to take place today and instead kick it down the road to October 27th. As both sides try to work out a path forward, they're currently engaged in negotiations, which, if you're familiar with how things like this work really only means one thing. It means that they're trying to work out a deal where they don't have to go through a lengthy trial. They can get Santos to just plead guilty in exchange for a lesser sentence.

But even though that is clearly what this court filing most likely means, George Santos remains defiant that, whoa, he has not taken a plea deal whatsoever because after this story was starting to be reported, you had talking points, memo. They had a reporter reach out to George Santos like, Hey, are, are you working on a plea deal? Like, that's it. You know, an innocuous question like, Hey, just by the way, are you trying to come up with a plea deal? And he said it was quote wildly inaccurate. And then he said, quote, you're a real hack of a reporter. Please do not contact me any longer. I will deem your unsolicited communication as harassment.

You know what, prosecutors, screw it. Withdraw your motion and let's have that hearing today. Let's have that hearing this afternoon. Make this s o b come in because this is ridiculous. Like all signs point to the fact that both sides, of course, are working on, as they put it, negotiations. And this guy's acting like that's not true. He is criminally incapable of telling the truth. Like that's what this is. I mean, that's what the trial's about. That's what the indictments are about. That's what his whole history has been about. Not being able, like almost a physical inability to be honest with anyone for any reason. So to that, I say prosecution, screw it. Take this ss o b to trial. Do not give him a deal. Do not cut him a break. Do not try to avoid the trial. Make him go through all of it because that is what he deserves. This isn't a Republican thing, this isn't a Democrat thing. This is a scumbag thing. And it's time that the prosecutors start treating George Santos as such.
