Trump Freaks Out After Iowa Governor Endorses Ron DeSantis

Kim Reynolds, the Republican governor of Iowa, took the unusual step of endorsing a Republican candidate BEFORE the caucus in her state in January. She picked Ron DeSantis because, as she put it, Donald Trump "can't win." That's an ironic statement considering the fact that DeSantis has only fallen in the polls over the last 12 months. But Trump is still furious, nonetheless, and he attacked both Reynolds and DeSantis in posts on Truth Social this week. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what happened.

So on Monday of this week, Ron DeSantis scored a pretty significant endorsement from Iowa's Republican governor Kim Reynolds. Now, Iowa, of course, is the first caucus coming up for the Republicans, I believe. Uh, January 15th is when that is going to be held, and whoever prevails in Iowa kind of enters the rest of the 49 races with a big head of steam. So for DeSantis to get this very rare endorsement from the governor of Iowa before the caucus, it's kind of big. And you know what else is big? Donald Trump's anger over Kim Reynolds endorsing Ron DeSantis. Now, before I get to Trump's response, let me tell you what Kim Reynolds did because she didn't just endorse Ron DeSantis. She also, uh, went on NBC news and was asked a question by NBC correspondent Dacia Burns. Dasha Burns asked Kim Reynolds quote, do you believe Trump can't win? And Reynolds replied, yeah, I believe he can't win.

Now, the irony is obviously this, you think Trump can't win. So you're endorsing somebody who literally can't even win a primary, you know, do, do you see the irony there? Kim Reynolds, like you, you're endorsing a guy who ever since he announced he was running for president, officially, has done nothing but lose support from Republicans to the point where he's now tied for second in your state, because Nikki Haley has gained on him. Nikki Haley has gained on him in New Hampshire. She's gained on him in South Carolina. Like you're endorsing a guy who fell from being neck and neck with Trump about a year ago to essentially the third place loser. And you're out there saying, Trump can't win. He may not be able to win a general, but your guy can't even win a primary. But as I said, Trump was, furious, just absolutely apoplectic.

So Trump got on truth social, as he often does. And he said this, why would anybody endorse Ron de Sanctimonious, who is like a wounded bird falling from the sky? I'm sorry. Like what? First of all, Ron de Sanctimonious is the dumbest nickname ever. It does not flow off the tongue easily. You're, you're supporters can't even, like, they don't even know what sanctimonious means. And then the wounded bird falling from the sky. Are you writing poetry now? Donald, Jesus, he continues, his poll numbers are terrible. He is totally against ethanol and fought to destroy social security and Medicare. Well, the nation's most unpopular governor, Kim Reynolds of Iowa just endorsed him. What's that all about?? I,

I'm gonna, I'm gonna Ms. Donald Trump a little bit when he is not in politics anymore, because I gotta tell you, I love that he ended it like a nineties observation comic. Like, what's the deal with Kim Reynolds? It's hilarious. He doesn't even like ethanol. Like, where did that even come from? What is going on? Make it make sense, folks, because none of it does, but you gotta, you gotta hand it to Kim Reynolds, right? I mean, she had the choice. Do you wanna pick the guy that's gonna lose the primary or do you wanna pick the guy that's gonna lose the general? And she said, you know what, I'm gonna get my losing done early and I've gotta go ahead and endorse the guy that can't even win a primary.
