Republicans Praying Ethics Report On George Santos Will Lead To His Removal

Republican Representative George Santos has already survived two separate attempts to expel him from Congress, but Republicans in the House are hoping that a much anticipated report from the Ethics Committee will give them the ammo they need to get him out before the end of the year. But in order to do that, they'd have to have help from the Democrats, and they are the ones who saved Santos during the last expulsion attempt. Republicans in Congress are excited about a new report coming out later this week from the House Ethics Committee, a report that some Republicans believe will be the final nail in the coffin of the George Santos drama. Now on Tuesday, George Santos, uh, former campaign manager actually pleaded guilty, which is a very bad sign for George Santos with the criminal charges that he is facing because I'm willing to bet as part of that guilty plea, he's agreed to go ahead and testify against Santos. But before we even get to that point, because the trial's not slated to begin until September of 2024, for some reason, this is just absolutely stupid, but okay, sure. Next year, why not? But before we get there, the House Ethics Committee has been conducting their own investigation into George Santos that wrapped up actually about two weeks ago. We were supposed to get the final report last week, but we didn't.

But they swear to us it's totally gonna come out by Friday of this week. You know, probably, you know, just drop it right before Thanksgiving, I guess. But either way, they're totally gonna come out with the report and the Republicans in the house believe that this will be what they need to show that Santos did commit crimes and then they'll move forward with another vote, uh, vote, excuse me, to expel him from Congress. Easier said than done though, right folks? I mean, Santos has already survived two expulsion votes this year and and the most recent one, that kinda was shocking, right? I understand the arguments like, well, let's not convict him till till he's actually convicted, but come on, I mean, really? Come on. Like you're gonna look at all of this evidence that is readily available and be like, no, let's just wait and see.

We don't know. Come on folks. Now, once they get the ethics committee report, of course it could show that yes, we have determined he committed crimes. And I will be shocked if the Ethics Committee report does not say that. Maybe not in those words, but again, you look at the evidence, right? You look at the fact that his campaign managers have pleaded guilty, this is not going well for Santos. But the expo expulsion votes have not gone well for the rest of Congress. The most recent one, of course, the Democrats actually kind of swept in and saved Santos for a bit, and in order to even expel him in the first place, which what's going to have to happen, because I know you're not gonna get all the Republicans, but you have to get at least 80 Republicans to vote with every single Democrat to vote to expel George Santos. That's easier said than done. Like when we look at the chaos and the dysfunction in the Republican party, I mean, it's on display this week, again,

With the budget battles. Do you really think, you're going to get that many Republicans to vote to expel 'em? You could only get eight Republicans this week to vote to not impeach Mayor Orcas for not committing crimes. So I don't know, like this report from the ethics committee could literally tell us like, George Santos killed eight people in a fit of rage. And you'd still have Republicans being like, well, I mean, let's let the voters decide . So I can't say for certain anything will happen one way or the other. Santos seems pretty confident.
