DOJ Let Human Trafficking Profiteers Off With Pathetic Slap On The Wrist

The US Department of Justice has decided that profiting off of human trafficking is just fine, and they are letting adult film powerhouse PornHub off with a fine of less than $2 million after the company made loads of cash off of trafficking victims. This is a disgusting perversion of justice, and it does absolutely nothing to help the victims who are still being exploited by these websites, sometimes even with their knowledge. Last week, the United States Department of Justice announced that they had issued a fine against the company, formerly known as MindGeek, which owns the adult websites, PornHub browsers and several others. But they announced that they were finding this company for promoting videos on their websites that featured victims of human trafficking. So you would expect, since this is a very big deal, women were being exploited, women were being trafficked, they were being abused and tortured for the profit of this company. You would think this fine would be significant, right? Like obviously the DOJ lawyers are gonna do something to hold these traffickers and the trafficking profiteers accountable, right? Well, as per usual, no, the DOJ find a, uh, ALO Holdings, which is the company formally known as Mind Geek. They find them $1.8 million. That's it. Less than $2 million for profiting off of videos of women that were trafficked and forced to perform sexual acts on camera.

Now, according to the company, they had received this sworn statement from the group that produced the videos that they then hosted on their website. They said, the group told us that all these women consented. Oh, we, we had no idea they were traffickers. But then again, they admitted we didn't bother to check. We, we just saw they, they signed a document saying there was nothing wrong, and we just took 'em at their word. So as part of the settlement, by the way, the $1.8 million Mind Geek or Alo Holdings now says, well, hey, in the future we promise to do our due diligence to make sure we're not posting videos of women that have been human trafficked. Do you know how small $1.8 million is for this company? Lemme put it to you this way. Last year, the company made $455 million in the year 20 22, 450 5 million that comes out to roughly $1.2 million per day.

So a $1.8 million fine is 36 hours, 36 hours out of a full year. This company lost the profits from, so they lose this much, but they still make all of this, and they swear they're gonna up their compliance and make sure we're not posting, you know, videos of women that have been trafficked. Now, I have no faith in this company to do the right thing and clearly no faith in the DOJ to actually hold people profiting off human trafficking accountable. But you know what?
