More Americans with either a brain or a conscience were shocked at Donald Trump's comments over the weekend when he suggested that he would encourage Russia to attack our allies in NATO if they were "delinquent" in paying their dues. One CNN host, Christiane Amanpour, went as far as to say that the comments were "literally insane." But Trump's allies in Washington, D.C. thought nothing of it, and some actually suggested it was a great idea. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what happened.

We have to talk about what Donald Trump said over the weekend at a speech in South Carolina when he claimed that while he was president of the United States, he would tell NATO member countries. In other words, our allies in Europe, that if they don't pay their dues, not only would he not do anything, if Russia decided to invade them, he would actually encourage Russia to invade them for not, as Trump likes to say, paying their fair share for funding of nato. This comment, of course, is insane, and that's actually not my word for it. That is coming from CNN Anchor Christiane Amanpour. Here's what Amanpour had to say after Trump made these comments, and the only reason I'm reading this is because it's probably the most accurate analysis of what Trump said that I have seen so far. She said, you know, it is insane. It literally is insane.

In one sentence, president Trump turned the entire postwar transatlantic security doctrine on its head. It's almost unbelievable. It's an insanity to say that that's the existential crisis the world faces right now. The post World War II global security operation is based on America and its 30 other NATO allies defending each other and coming to each other's rescue and protecting and securing democracy and security in the West. Accurate statement, like every bit of it accurate. What Trump said is insane. It is crazy. A crazy person would say that, and he said it. We are at a point where Donald Trump is making it clear that not only does he hate our allies, and that was evident during his entire administration, but he loves our enemies. Now, he's not trying to make peace with our enemies. He's not trying to be friends with them to talk them off the ledge, so to speak.

He wants them to do these horrible things. He wants to buddy up and partner with them to possibly do horrible things. This is the threat that Donald Trump poses, not just to the United States, but to the entire planet. He was restrained to a degree during his first term. If he gets back into office as, as everybody has explained a million times over at this point, there will be no restraints. He's gonna make sure that his entire administration, top to bottom, is packed with spineless. Yes people. That's what Project 2025 is all about. By the way, he will cozy up to these dictators. He will allow them to do whatever they want to kill, whoever they want to invade, whatever country they want. And as commander in chief of the Armed Forces, he may even send our troops to help them do this.

That is a threat, again, not just to this country, but to every country on earth. Donald Trump could drag us into conflicts that result in the United States itself being attacked, where our former allies have to turn against us. That is the threat that he poses if he gets back into the White House. And what's even more sick about this is the fact that you have plenty of Republicans, Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio, stand out among them who are totally okay with this. Here's what Lindsey Graham said on Sunday when he was asked about Trump's comments. He said, give a break. I mean, it's Trump. All I can say is while Trump was president, nobody invaded anybody. I think the point here is to, in his way to get people to pay. Uh, first of all, that's actually not true there. There were plenty of invasions, maybe not big countries.
