4:51Now PlayingDuring a speech over the weekend, Donald Trump claimed that he's going to demand that President Biden be given a drug test before he debates him. Trump claimed that Biden was clearly "high as a kite", as he put it, during the State of the Union address, and he doesn't want that to happen at the debates. There is no evidence to suggest that Biden was on anything for the address, but Republicans have revived that claim over the last week to try to undermine the debates that are now on the schedule. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

During a campaign rally on Friday evening to kick off the weekend, Donald Trump once again suggested that maybe, maybe he's not actually going to debate President Biden, even though he said anytime, any place under any condition. Those are the three things Trump said, like, doesn't matter the place, the venue, the time, your conditions, I'll do 'em all. Trump now has some conditions of his own. And here is Donald Trump at this speech, I believe it was in Minnesota, telling us what his new condition for showing up to the debates will be. Take a look.
No, I have fake tappers. The, uh, they said, I just want to debate this guy, but you know, and I'm gonna, I'm gonna demand a drug test too, by the way. I am. No, I really am. I don't want him coming in like the state of the Union. He was high as a kite. I said, is that Joe up there? A beautiful rock? And by the end of the evening he's like, well, it was exhausted right now we're gonna demand a drug test, but
A drug test of the president of the United States of America. Because as Donald Trump says, during that State of the Union months ago, he was quote, high as a kite, high as a kite. So yeah, that's, that's where we are. Um, here's the weird thing. After President Biden's State of the Union, and I mean like in the immediate days after conservatives were furious, that Biden actually showed up with passion and energy, which he did. And he braised his voice plenty of times. It is the old school Biden, basically. And he held it together for, you know, an hour and a half, made it work. So for the days after that, Republicans were free furious about it, saying, this is ridiculous. He was so mean. He was so energetic. That's not fair. We wanted him to be sleepy. But then it died off because again, it was months ago, but in the last week you have had Sean Hannity, you have had Republican members of Congress, and then at the end of the week you had Donald Trump for some reason, bring this back up.
Now, is it just a coincidence that all of these independent people started using the same talking point that died off months ago that President Biden was on drugs during State of the Union? No, absolutely not. That would be the biggest coincidence in the history of coincidences. This is a coordinated effort probably being spurred on by the Trump campaign. I don't know if they cooked it up or if Sean Hannity at Fox News cooked it up. But either way, all of these independent people from conservative media to the halls of Congress, to the Trump campaign are all spitting out the exact same talking point. And there is no way you're gonna convince me that that is completely accidental. This is the new talking point to go ahead and downplay whatever the results of that debate are gonna be. 'cause if President Biden shows up with energy and wipes the floor with Donald Trump, conservatives are gonna write it off and be like, well, he was on drugs obviously, so it doesn't count because he was on drugs.
They know Trump is gonna lose. So they're laying the groundwork now for excuses as to why he loses. That's what this is about. And it may be even more than that. This may be Donald Trump laying the groundwork to back out of the debate. 'cause obviously Biden's not gonna be drug tested before the debate.
